Beneath a Silent Plain

The swallows hover above the ground
As they circle solemnly ‘round
Over the quiet field of stone
That signifies those that are gone.

Though they may not walk and roam
On this Earth it’s still their home,
Because the bodies to those names
Lie beneath the silent plain.
