When You Were Gone
You were gone
That's all I knew
So I thought...
I really like you
I blame myself
It's not your fault
That my life was on time out
Thinking now, I want to shout
Not at you
Or me
But at my heart
When I turned around
My heart skipped a beat
Only to see you were nowhere to be found
You would sneak up
Give me a hug
I would squirm and giggle
You would play and make me wiggle
Much as I do now
Believe me, I will never say "Ciao"
Time has opened my eyes
Not to lies
But to the truth before me
Making me believe
You aren't it
No sparks were lit
It's taken a while to say
But hey,
Our friendship will remain
