Thank You
I used to be shy
never did I spread my wings and fly
I kept them closed day and night
knowing it would be another disastrous flight

My eyes would be closed when I walked
until one day you came upon my door
 and ever so slightly knocked
I opened the door a crack
took a peek at the outside world
a rush of taunting memories suddenly came back
 I shook my head no
and went to close the door
in a blink of an eye
your fingers slipped through the opening
I yelled and cried for you to go

Fear ate me ever so quickly and so I pushed my hardest
your fingers turned blue and black
 but never did they budge
For years I’ve watched your fingers in
 the spot its always been

 Realizing I may never win
slowly I walked up to the door
hoping this better be worth much more
 carefully I unlocked it
waiting for you to take a step in
but you still stood out in the cold
confused I asked why haven’t you entered
you smiled, then opened your mouth and said
 I’m waiting for your cue
a tear rolled down my cheek
and so I whispered thank you.
