Today She Left This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

She left today and carried with her
the relentless ring, ring, ring ofthe phone.
The piano amasses dust, no longer able to croon its sweetmelodies.
Silence thickens like the air on a scorching humidday.
Loneliness smothers, like a fire that blazes with the damperclosed.
The fear of change on my tongue a pungent stale coffee.
She willrevisit never the same,
because today she left.
