With this serve I aim to break
your guard. No matter how hard
you hit back I will be at the net,
split step, do a volley, or
I may stand at the baseline and
return with a deep strong ball that
penetrate through your swing,
15-0
or I may do an overhead,
30-0
ace
40-0

it doesn’t matter how close
we know- I know- you know
it is the match point

you return, I smash, you volley
back and forth ‘till the ball
touches the net and bounces back to you
I scream
you clap
Game, set and match

although it’s how it ends,
we are still good friends
yes, good friends---
we are bound by the game.

The theme of this piece is about tennis, my favorite sport. I really love the sportsmanship in every game, not just tennis.
