And then there was the time
When air floated gently
And the trees
Playedtricks on the sky,
Sending the last lingering raindrops
To mingle on thewooden park bench below.
And we sat in the damp,
Staring at theskylake
And the small ship or star radiating in the distance.
And thenthere was the time
When heads together,
Eyes closed,
The fan movingmethodically
And hesitating at regular intervals,
Your favorite song sentshivers down the spine,
Like all the best music should, you told me.
Andthen there was the time
When books and politics
Lined our minds and woveour words
And we chose conversation by letter of the alphabet
As I moved mytoes slowly
Through the parched sand.
And then there were all thosetimes
When your hand folded over mine
Softly,
And I never understood whyit hurt so much to let go.
And all those times
I loved you
But did notknow it yet.
