Above Our Heads

Ravens swarm above our heads
Reflected in our rivers of bliss
Guitar strings wrapped around my neck
Within eachother's seas we fished

A twisting, turning storm approaches
The birds still sing, perched in thine hair
Traipsing beneath weather foreboded
A blindness together we both shared

If I am drowning, water well above my eyes
Where in the world would you be?
Of all places, you wander and roam my mind
Only just beyond my reach
Why aren't you here with me?

Ants descend central of mine hand
I wish that she'd go back to the old
Inspire your heart to sing to her again
If at all, comfort for both our souls

Make sense of what is make-believe
Run away from what cannot be left
Within your chest my fingers weave
To find your heart cannot be kept
Belonging to someone I can't see
For that I condone an innocent theft

If I am drowning, water well above my eyes
Where in the world would you be?
Of all places, you wander and roam my mind
Only just beyond my reach
Why aren't you here alongside me?

For one day your shackles were broken
For one whole day your heart was mine
Until I found that you couldn't be stolen
We cannot escape into the night

A fish hook rests above our heads
Reflected in our rivers of soap
Guitar strings wrapped around our necks
Within eachother's seas we float

If I am drowning, water well above my eyes
Where in the world would you be?
Of all places, you wander and roam my mind
Only just beyond my reach
Why aren't you drowning beside me?

This poem is about a deeply strong and spiritual connection that I once shared with someone.
