Thank you for showing me the way
I’ll always remember that day in May
Your intentions as pure as the feathers on a dove
Everything you did was with love

I’m thankful and blessed that you were my friend
So much gratitude I feel toward you for lighting my path
For your act of kindness I have not fallen under Satan's wrath
In time, but not now, I’ll try and make amends

For now I’ll smile
Take everything by the mile
I’m sorry for acting so vile
I’ll try and lay down a new tile

Most of what you say causes me pain
Please, don't misunderstand I’m not trying to complain
The words, they hurt, remind me I’m not numb
If you ever need me, call, I’ll still come

Though this is hard to believe, you're in my prayers
I’m sorry I make you feel like the least of my cares
I’ve wrapped myself up in some foreign cocoon
Woven by some hated loom

I hope that we may be friends in time
Please remember you are worth much more to me than a dime
Thanks for your lovely light
But for now I must fetch my coat and bid you good night
