The soft waves of my curls as a child,

Softly bending so as to not disturb the fragile flow,

No longer bear such innocent strands.

Instead,  they scream with brutal angst,

Wailing for the subtle, silent words trapped inside.

The once conforming coils formerly heeding taming hands,

Now yank and pull, avoiding all attempted force.

With each tug, a link of the chain shatters,

Loosening its grip on the riotous black.

The bond destined to snap,

And reveal it all.
