I sit and stare across the lake,
spy on sparrows and cardinals
silhouetted against the western sky.
In the wind, gilded leaves mingle,
shimmering against crimson clouds.
Wind chimes clang in the claret air,
echo across the water
as they cling to the wavering branches.
