Neverland
Neverland, Neverland where did you go?
What mattered most was knowing to throw
The days when hakuna matata made perfect sense
Our play place was outlined by a fence
Fears didn’t go further than down the street
Getting along with whoever we meet
Running about, new to the world
Pledging the flag as it furled
Colored eggs dipping and splashing
Wresting each other, small bodies thrashing
Face paint made us up
Graduating from the sippy cup
The magic of Disney was newly discovered
Our mother’s words always hovered
Lack of imagination wasn’t an issue
Someone was nearby to bless you with a tissue
Today and tomorrow, they pass so quickly
The gates of Neverland aren’t guarded as thickly
Childhood wonders slip away little by lots
Let us remember the days we were tots
