The Final Race
It’s the final stretch to the finish line
The final leap toward the end
Then the gold will be mine
And only mine to defend
The finish line is approaching
Painted up there in red
There the men stand waiting
With clipboards, prepared for my heavy tread
Their red pens are ready
The score sheets are done
So I just keep running steady
Getting excited for the fun
This race is crazy
Different than before
Now it’s all so hazy
I just want the final score
So my feet pound against the ground
And run over the line
I wait to hear the sound
Of the bells that’ll chime
It’s finally ended
And I’ve won
Now it will be splendid
For this race is completely done
