5 Minutes

Time passes slowly
Uneventfully
5 minutes can seem like an eternity
5 minutes seems unimportant
But in the next 5 minutes
Someone’s dream is going to come true
And someone’s dream is going to slip away
Someone will make a choice
And someone will pay for a mistake
Someone will fall in love
And someone’s heart will break.
In the next 5 minutes
Someone’s life will end
And a new life will begin
And maybe, just maybe if the world gives that life a chance
That life could change the world
Suddenly, 5 minutes seems more important
But just think
If 5 minutes could change the world
What could it do for your world?

I wrote this poem in English class after a discussion about how precious our time truly is. It's important never to take it for granted.
