Sound Asleep
Beep, Beep, Beep
Morning
Warning
Ugh
My brain is going as fast as a slug
Wonderful to be up
I’m as glowing as a buttercup
Yah right
I’ll never get up without a fight
The clock
Mocks
Itself
On my shelf
With a repeated ear-piercing beep
I try to press snooze with a sweep
Of my hand
Then I get a command
To awaken
I smell bacon
I understand
The demand
Its morning
I had my forewarning
I mustn’t be late
School won’t wait
The morning drones on
I get to school at dawn
Then I’m gone
I run across the lawn
Sleep withdrawn
Now I’m upon
School ground
Which students are around
What morning glory
My mourning story
