The Gift of Heaven
When I look around, my eyes what they see,
what be this one great gift of sorrow’s end?
All the comfort, happiness, joy, and glee.
The glory which life itself can’t contend.
Life giver, peace bringer, caring sentry,
our father, king of mighty realms unseen.
He created and nurtures all that be.
Green earth, running river, true love serene.
Though unworthy, invited still we are,
to share in this gift of life evermore.
To live free and smile with shadows gone far.
But until that time we’ll fight and yearn for,
the blessed day when we answer the call,
beyond where evil’s dark shadows can fall.
