The Motherland

December 19, 2008

I’m from the Motherland
I’m from where we are surrounded by sand
I’m from playing games in the streets
I’m from so many people at the dinner table you don’t have a seat

I’m from the Motherland
I’m from where everyone is happy and has their own land
I’m from rusty tricycles
I’m from where it’s hard to keep a Popsicle

I’m from reliving my parent’s dreams
I’m from hard work I have to redeem
I’m from the Motherland
My heartland
