Before the Memories

June 14, 2009
I never saw anyone say so much
about china when they slept.
But there you were with your
mouth slightly open mumbling
something about Wan-Li Quang-Qeng.

The first time I kissed you,
you jumped onto the park bench
and hollered like a gorilla and said
it was because you felt an electric shock.
Later that night you did the same thing
except this time it was because of a brain freeze.

93 Marble Street.
That’s where my Uvaria Grandiflora
fell five stories onto your silver Pontiac.
You were beyond words when you say my face.
