Those words
I thought you had given me a glimpse into your soul
I thought you had allowed me to delve into the complexities of your heart
I thought your impenetrable wall had crumbled
I wrote those words because my heart yearned to beat as one with yours
I said those words because each moment without your presence made my spirit wilt
I meant those words because of life’s clarity when I was with you
I knew that when those words slipped off my lips and entered into your mind, that they would never make it to your heart
Each word was an arrow, destined for the heart, yet attacked by the warriors of the mind
My feeling of entirety and wholesomeness made your feeling of confusion more profound
Your heart was beating
Beating…
Its rhythm, its tempo didn’t coincide with mine
I knew that all this time, your heart was beating, but it was living for someone else.
