Gone
The trees cast a shadow upon your face
Depicting the doubt and turmoil felt within
Your eyes seemed full of question
Your hands felt deep within the confines of your pockets
Hoping to discover a way to hold on
You knew at that moment, that I was no longer a part of you
You felt my presence fading away, my spirit detaching itself from yours
As your fingers caressed my back as we embraced, the immutable notion surfaced within your mind
This moment of connection revealed to you what my words couldn’t
Our time together had expired
Awe in your eyes, guilt in your heart, we parted
You savored each second before the trees closed in upon us like the revelation of what had been done
Never again shall we return to the space under the trees, for never again shall we allow our hearts to be tainted with the passion of love
