I grab a hat, and pull it over my face.
The shadows hide the misery plastered on my face.

I grab a sweatshirt that is unmarked and gray.
The bland color assures no spotlight will be focused on me.

I hide my face as the tears stream down.
The heart-break within is close to attacking.

I grab my soft brown sweats.
The softness, my only source of comfort.

I grab a pair of plain, brown shoes.
The dark shade reminds me of the misery within.

I hide my face as the tears stream down.
The heart-break within is close to attacking.

I look out from under the brim of my hat.
The hat’s brim hides the pain in my eyes.

I saunter into school without acknowledging a single “hello”.
The people that wave hardly notice my despair.

I hide my face as the tears stream down.
The heart-break within is close to attacking.

I wonder how the world can be so cruel.
The friend I had has betrayed me without reason.

I wish she could see that by hurting my friend she has also hurt me.
The false rumor she started has only caused hurt.

I hide my face as the tears stream down.
The heart-break within is close to attacking.

I can’t comprehend how she could be so cruel to her one-time friend.
The pain that coats my heart, several times over, is nearly unbearable.

I see her as she strolls down the hall.
The thing asks, “What’s wrong?” but I give her no reply.

I hide my face as the tears stream down.
The heart-break within is close to attacking.

The author's comments:
This story is completely true. My (one-time best friend) started an extremely cruel rumor about a extremely-good friend of mine, and once hers, with another classmate. This really made me want to either go murder her or just sit down and cry.
