I’m from where the black top ends
From Windex and Bud Light
From the dirt road;
26 miles of never-ending rocks, dust, and ditches.
From the cypress trees
and the air plants;
Its green tips covered in curly hair moss.
I’m from hog hunting
From blonde girls and blue-eyed boys
From the three crackers and a rat,
Buckwheat and Outlaw.
From the storytellers
The loud and the outgoing
From play it by ear,
and be a leader not a follower.
I’m from the backwoods.
