Well Enough
As a constant reminder
I wear your memory around my neck
Like a chain,
A bond
That connects us wherever we may go.
Should have left
Well enough alone
But you insisted.
Now you’re the one there
To defend what’s left of our world,
Because I’m not coming back.
So now I’m happy
And you are not.
I’m living
And you’re living the lie
I once held on my own.
Can’t reclaim it,
Wouldn’t even if I could.
Should have left
Well enough alone.
You couldn’t see
Past your own beliefs
And no one
Can see your pain now
But me,
And I’m not coming to your rescue.
Next time look before you leap.
Should have left well enough alone.
