Meaningful conversations
Full of the movies we’ve seen
Favorite colors
Hobbies and activities
The gossip of the week
Nothing new
We’ve told too much
What is there left to say
Everything has already been answered
The silence we are left with
The buzzing of the phone receiver
It gives me a headache
After all nobody is meant to hear it anyway
As we sit closely together we watch the television
It flashes rerun commercials
We are hand in hand
But still no words are uttered
I don’t know you anymore
Because if I did
I’d have something to tell
We have both become mute
Deaf to each other’s thoughts
Why do I bother
Sitting here holding your hand
Hoping that in the next second
You’ll keep me interested
With your wonderful stories
You used to tell them with such enthusiasm
I once had everything
Now left with nothing but calm breathing
