Tick, tock, tick, tock ...
I hear the clock as I watch the hours,
Minutes and seconds drift through my fingertips
As I wish to feel your fingers running through my hair,
And your lips, I long to touch ...

3:27 in the morning ...
I lay here fondling the memories as I try to
Patch the pieces together. The heart feels as though
A hundred stabbing knives have sunk into it.
The color and feel of my eyes have turned to stone and
The air in the room is now empty and cold.

I remember ...

Bright blue eyes and that lemon-stained hair
Take me back to the first summer that we shared.
The crystal blue ocean and that summer breeze
Bring me back to you as I feel the sand in-between my toes.
I gave you my heart that night. You told me you loved me,
And I said it right back, and then you stabbed me in the back ...

Reality takes its toll ...

Two hours and six minutes since I have last looked up.
Another memory, another night, another heart shattered
In the fight.

The fight to love. The fight to care.
The fight to always be there. The fight has been defeated
When you said those words, the words of love and passion,
The words that lead to the perfect lie ...
