No Time for a Swim
The dark line
Of the forest
In the distance
Beckons me
Mysterious shadows
Flit through the trees
As sparkles of light
Shimmer along the path
Around a corner there’s a lake
Its surface smooth and tempting
But I am not fooled by its pristine looks
I know what dangers lie beneath
The path keeps going and I choose to follow
Skirting the blue waters around the lake, content to stay
Just out of reach of the lapping waves
There is no time for a swim
