I am from fruity sport drinks.
From climbing trees, and skits I used to do.
I am from the bunk beds I used to sleep on.
Tall, grown-up-like.
My place was on the bottom.
I am from tea sets.
The picture books
Whose life lessons I remember,
As if they were my own.

I’m from playgrounds and Barbie dolls.
From my grandmother and grandma.
I’m from getting my elbows off the table,
And movie nights we always have.
I’m from birthday parties
With amazingly decorated cakes,
And the great gifts.

I’m from 7-11 and Souper Salad.
Mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese.
From all the frustration.
It all turned out in the end.
