Clinging to ropes like mischievous monkeys
Slippery hands twisted and tightened
Flipping above just dew-dusted blades
The sun slipped slower that night
Scrunched noses at our childish scheme
Approaching lights bounced
With the approach of Dad’s car
Freeze!
Marble statues with sugary smiles
I floated
Above the game to watch us giggle
Trees screech with taut rope pain
A motherly finger curled to signal my return
A bitter taste of summer too far away
Stars taunted me with frames of nights to come
A school night, my bed called for fun to end
