My bio teacher said “Did you know
That in the ocean,
fish and coral polyps and the like
Just release their sperm
And eggs
Into the water
and hope they meet?”
I already knew, from somewhere,
So, while she speaks, I wonder
Fish hope?
and someone's pale hand raises.
She announces dryly “And that's why
I don't snorkel!”
Obviously, she has never been in love.
