My Hand Within Your Hand
As I look ahead I’m bombarded by the past
As I embrace the present my mind does wonder back
As I say I love you no truer words I speak
But the memories of yesterday leave me feeling weak
You are all I need forever, the beating of my heart
But the wounds I healed so long ago are ripping me apart
Most days I can handle the thoughts within my head
But with you so far away I’m feeling numb and dead
All I need is your touch my head upon your chest
But without you close to me I can barely catch my breath
I’d run to where you are but you are so very far way
Staying strong grows harder with each passing day
I would wait forever, as impatient as I am
But even now feels like forever without your hand within my hand
