My heart hurts
Because of you
Because of them
Because of me

My heart hurts
Because I gave it to you
And you threw it away
You couldn’t even pretend to care

My heart hurts
Because they smashed it up
And they laughed
And now they want me to forgive them

My heart hurts
Because I lost it
I cared too much
I got lost in my fantasies

My heart hurts
I feel it breaking
Because of you and them
But mostly

Because

Of

Me

I am sorry this poem is so sad, but that's mostly what I write. I write powerful (and often times depressing) poems. I wrote this poem after my Hamsa from camp broke and I felt like it was my heart that broke. (For those of you that don't know, a Hamsa is a Jewish symbol that is supposed to protect you from evil) This was something from camp years ago when my very special friend Oded was there. Oded lives in Israel and I will probly never see him again, but I will cherrish the memories he left with me. (I had a ceremony for my destroyed Hamsa. :( )
