Savior
bound up by these broken dreams
wings cut off and ankles bound
in iron cuffs of hardened hearts
and I can't find the way to fly
every word I speak binds me
to the earth, so far from sky
the stage I danced on, walked on air
and now I'll never soar again
but there, peering through the gloom
a pale white face with sharp dark eyes
and one hand thrown out as a buoy
and I grab and hold on tight
from the darkness this face lifts me
off the dirt and into clouds
where rain can cling to every lash
and laughter shines like sun's bright beams
I never thanked him quite enough
for casting off this iron hold
but in his heart I think he knows
he saved me when he took my hand
