A Perfect Setting For Poetry

June 2, 2009

Ah! A perfect day, a meadow green, a shady tree,
I have a leather bound book,
Of epic poems and sonnets,
The Sun, dancing leaves, and rippling grass,
A perfect setting for poetry.

Ah! A perfect day, a cozy fire, snow in the window,
I have a leather bound book,
Of epic poems and sonnets,
The gray clouds, the fluttering flakes of snow, flickering flame,
A perfect setting for poetry.

Ah! A perfect day, a soft spring rain, birds singing joyfully in the dripping branches,
I have a leather bound book,
Of epic poems and sonnets,
The fresh smell of a storm, feeling the damp moss underneath my bare feet,
A perfect setting for poetry.

Ah! A perfect day, my back resting against a tree,
I have a leather bound book,
Of epic poems and sonnets,
Pale yellow sunlight filters through the orange leaves, dappling the page,
A perfect setting for poetry.

The author's comments:
I have a deep love of poetry and reading in general, I wrote this poem to show my favorite places to read throughout the year and seasons, and how tranquil those moments are.
