I Needed You
I needed you to be there
I needed you by my side
When I was in that hospital bed
And I slowly, slowly died
I needed you to want me
I needed you to care
You knew it was going to happen
But I got no visitors and it wasn’t fair
I needed you to hold my hand
I needed you to say it would be ok
But you never did come, not once
I just sat there waiting for you to walk my way
I needed you to wipe the tears
I needed you to hold me when I was scared
As they would tell me the process I’ve made
And tell me how much more treatment I could bear
I don’t need you anymore
I don’t need you for anything
Now that I’m gone
You’re the one who is gonna need me
