Calloused feet,
Worn from years of
Catching up to little children,
But taken care of
By countless foot massages.

Muscled legs,
Ready for action
In taking youngsters
Wherever they need to go.

A soft, cushioned lap
That has held
So many frightened tots,
Hugging them,
Holding them,
Keeping them safe from harm.

Not quite a perfect body,
Misshapen from times of
Carrying unborn babies
And taking care of those
Delicious, late-night
Chocolate cravings.



A brain fit for a king,
Prepared to outwit
Those pesky teenagers
In their attempts to
Thwart the love of
Old people.

And a heart,
So soft and caring,
Bursting with love
For each individual
Son, daughter, friend, and husband,
That, through the ages,
Never tires
Of pumping out
A mother’s affection.
