Mr. Cat
Mr. Cat slept peacefully on the floor
As a fresh fish stew did brew upon the open fire
His wife entered their house through the back door
She smiled and set her wet mittens beside her
They sat to enjoy their stew at a cozy table
While Mr. cat began to tell his little fable:
"There once lived a trout named Mabel
who every day wanted to be able
to swirl a rainbow tail about
but sadly she wasn't a rainbow trout
All the other rainbows left her out
Everyday she would sit and pout
Until the children came one day
Upon the shore they began to play
And to her shock they did take out
All the lovely rainbow trout
They caught all the rainbows in the bay
And on that solemn, lonely day
I recall it the month of May
The little trout was so proud to say
I'm glad I am no rainbow trout
Because there would be trouble about
For beauty does not, you see,
Bring happiness completely."
You are very wise Mr. Cat
said his wife with a little pat
But you are very handsome too
I very much like that about you
