I don't think I have ever been to a hospital before
My mom is trying to be reassuring
But I know she is nervous
The room smells clean and sterile
The man is cold and detached
Like the walls
Only 5 years old
But changed forever
I look around
Beeping machines
Shiny needles
Worry
Panic
Fear
Confusion
Etched on the faces
Words without meaning
Insulin
Pancreas
But I will be okay
I will get through this
Diabetes
