The soul of these shoes
Has not been far.
It has simply seen
What I have shown it.

The soul of these shoes
Tells a tale.
The kind of story to make you sob at parts
Yet smile at others.

The soul of these shoes
Can tell you much more
About my existence,
Than even I.

The soul of these shoes
Tries to console me
As I stroll, not rush,
Through all of the need and want.

The soul of these shoes
Holds my head up
While I jaunt into town on my petite horse

Watching, despite the fact, that others
Possess deluxe rides.

Even as I desire
To change shoes with someone else;
Perhaps more fortunate,
I cannot help but to sense,
I do not want to change them.
For my shoes, are fractions of who I am.

The soul of my shoes
Is in the inventions,
That let me walk comfortably.
Yet, the soul of my shoes
Is still a part of my own soul as well,
Since that soul has journeyed with me
Through the large thing identified as
Life.
