six o’clock, time to go home
shuffle of feet as we walk
out together,
lotsofustogether aswe clumpinthedoorway

without a Word
he stands and waits
i know, he knows
we
walk
home.

we
RANT ABOUT THE LATEST FIASCO
jokinglysillilytellgoofyjokes,
my HICcuping LAUGHTER
pierces—the—still
no one’s
walking
but us

STOP
says the red watchman

we stand on the corner; —
one final
goofyfunnycrazy joke;we share another laugh

i leave him at the curb,
he turns
i HICcup home


The author's comments:
This is about my and my friend on our daily walk home from school. I was inspired by the work of ee cummings and experimented with freeform. I ended up straying quite a bit from cummings, and so here it is.
