Three Minute Friend
I pull into the left hand turn lane,
And stop at the light.
I look over and see him.
He’s dancing to the loud radio.
I start to laugh.
He sees me laughing.
His dancing stops.
His laughing begins.
I peek quickly at the still red light,
Then gaze toward him again.
He waves. I smile.
Suddenly, the light turns green again,
And he proceeds straight,
As I continue left,
Never to see him again.
My three minute friend.
I knew nothing about him,
But, we had something in common.
We both had a destination,
Even though neither was in a hurry to get there.
