Mistakes

He sits alone in silence
Staring out the darkened windows.
Now they work and sleep in separate rooms.
Chemistry was never his best subject-
Often experimenting,

When would he learn?
Their relationship was far from perfect,
Filled will ups
and downs-
Incremental triumphs.
He once walked with her along the riverside,
The breeze on his face, the leaves crunching underneath his feet,
Her hand grasped within his.
He felt her body next to his,
Her smell, still strong, in his mind.
He ran his fingers through her long brown hair
Talking of hopes and promises of forever.
He had it all.
He lost it all:
Her love, her trust, her passion.
He must have thought there were lesser evils
His lies were like tumors,
Each one growing larger,
Leaving no room for life.
