Forever
On the day you departed
I knew I would grieve
My hope dissipated
And I became an empty shell.
Every passing shadow
Reminded me of you
Every song I heard
Brought tears to my eyes.
I felt the raw emotions
Of longing and grief.
I knew that I could live no more
With your iron shackles on my heart.
As I walk through the places
That we used to call our own,
I see a light
I hear a voice
Calling out to me.
I know that you are out there
Missing me as well.
You have not forgotten,
And one day, you will return.
So I will survive
On shallow hopes and dreams.
Sitting on the front porch of your house
Forever, forever I will wait.
