Amidst a thriving forest of trees
Lies one lonely, desolate soul.
Cast out by the world,
It is left-
Alone.
Starving for sunlight;
Desperate to live just one more day.

Winding, twisting, stretching,
Morphing itself
In the hopes of catching even a glimpse of a kinder, more forgiving world

Shunned by the sun,
Bitterness takes root.
Leaves flee;
Bark becomes dry, cracked and soon rots away.
Left with nothing.

Each day is plagued with struggle
For this lost soul
