As he passes out,
With bottle in hand.
One more sip is all he thinks.
Just one more
After this one
I will quit
Quit this life of drinking.
No wait
He starts to think about his old life
His wife + kids
His mom +dad
Grandparents too.
His old life
Where his money wasn’t spent on booze.
The more he remembers
The more he hurts
Maybe the hurt will go away he thinks out loud
With just one more sip.

My uncle is a recovering alcohol. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. I wrote a speech on Alcholism, and wrote this poem to go with it.
