The Man in the Streets
Have you ever watched
The Broken man
Shuffling down the street,
Mumbling to the air
About life and social reek?
Did you ever see
His patched and angry clothes
Hanging unfit and loose,
While his buried future
Dangled from a noose?
Did you ever look upon
His roving eyes
Bleak and bleary gray,
That danced upon a morning sun
That will never see the day?
Have you ever walked
beside him
And listened to his words,
Of social wisdom and unrest,
Or did you flee and spurn?
Would you ever remain
To thank him
For all that he imparts
And give a last congenial glance
At life's forsaken charts.
