Sno-ball Stand Visits
Shaved ice and Styrofoam cups
Hawaiian punch is my favorite flavor
Don’t forget the condensed milk!
A plastic spoon and a straw to sip up the extra juice, my favorite part
I smash the top down with my spoon, afraid the top will fall off
Leaning in the ordering window, the cool air feels nice
It feels good against my hot and sweaty face
My friend behind me waits to order as she tells me stories about where she works
Together, we go to sit behind the dumpster
The shade there is relaxing
The little, old lady from across the street waves and smiles at us
We return the favor
We throw our empty cups and spoons and straws behind our backs so that they land in the dumpster
The walk back home isn’t too long
But we probably won’t even make it, stopping to sit on a shady corner to relax instead
These visits only get better by the week
