Down the Road
I saw you once
you were walking down the dirt road
Approaching the bridge
(Or is the bridge approaching you?)
Then you stop
(Why can't you continue?)
You are gone
I am not
Concerned
(Maybe I will see you again)
Down the road
I saw you once
you were a penny on the sidewalk
Few would stop to pick you up
At first I was unclear if it was you
But my heart prevailed
And I picked you up
It was you
I saw you once you were a beam of light
You were so vibrant and bright
But society never fails to point out
That in a world of dark
There is no room for light
You shall never go undetected
For now you can be found solely in my mind
I sincerely hope that will change with time
