Hurricane Katrina
Opportunity in front of me,
But hope is fading.
No time left to think,
Only one path that I see.
Leave my father behind,
Danger grows closer.
I rethink my decision.
If only I had time to rewind.
Disaster hits.
Dumbfounded, searching for words.
Words come, but sincerity goes.
Everything smashed to bits.
Anticipation for the day,
When I could return,
To what I called “home,”
Waiting for the day…
Reunited with my dad.
Balance restored to my mind.
Everything is over—for now,
And that made me glad.
