It is perfectly round like a sun setting low in the summer sky.
It is covered in soft, yet strong golden velvet,
Tucked secure with golden buttons and golden squares of folds,
It was nestled once in the Red Cabin deep in the North woods.
The Golden Pouf is extraordinary.

The Golden Pouf is the shelf for trays, magazines, and books,
Similarly it acts like a convenient coffee table.
The Golden Pouf also has a significant hidden asset.
It contains secret springs inside, buried deep within its padded core.
Capturing our surprise and curiosity like a wind up jack-in-the-box.

My brothers and I would wake up in the loft each summer morning
And rapidly race for joy down the stairs to reach our favorite cozy spot.
The Golden Pouf flooded by the warm rays of morning sunshine,
Humbly waited, yearning for our footsteps and ready for our arrival,
The Golden Pouf would feel warmer than the sun.

My hands liked to slowly press every golden crease, like glimmering scales on a sunfish.
The Golden Pouf was the perfect height and child size for my brothers and me.
We would lounge on our Pouf Island or curl up in blankets on top of our special golden space,
Until we livened up after our breakfast and our comforting and cozy nook became…
Our jumping bean and our instant playful companion, our one and only Golden Pouf.
