Barefoot
as i walk out the door,
i glance down at my shoes lying against the wall
 no thanks.
i savor the burn as my bare feet
 hit the sidewalk
this is how it always used to be
 no shoes, never
but it gets different as you grow up
 people think you're crazy
 if you don't wear shoes
 going without shoes
is like stepping into a picture of myself
from when i was four years old
not a care in the world
and nothing to hold me back
