Lying on the grass
As I watch another day pass,
The stars begin to illuminate the slowly darkening canvas
As the darker blue takes over the next shift.
The simple sounds of the night bring a peace that cannot be feigned--
An endless medley of vibrations and feelings that, from now on, can only be gained.
My acquaintances around me play scores that are of love--
Scores that remind me what I am made of.
Provoked thoughts of what has been done,
Sighs of release and liberation--
The past has been made, and the future is in the works.
This serene moment gives me the power to reach beyond
The line that separates the land and sky,
To go to a location of my soul that I have only dreamt of before in my time because as I lie here in the grass, I know that I can alter my impact-- my hopes I’ll surpass.
